The Dala Horse is the most popular icon in Sweden and the sign of strength and good luck. There is legend that the Dala Horse became the National toy in 1716 after Swedish soldiers fighting under King Charles XII were forced to seek quarters in the homes in the Dalarna region. The horse became the sign of good luck and these carvings were often given as gifts for their hosts or payment for room and board.

We are making needle felted ornaments with the Dahl shape. They're adorable and will make sweet little cookies for our Christmas Tea Parties.

I am an educator, currently teaching a cultural art course to elementary students in rural Idaho. I decided to do a project with Dala Horses. We made salt dough figurines using these cookie cutters. The shapes were perfect and the dough didn't stick to the cookie cutters. Thank you so much for making an awesome product! I'd also like to add that shipping was very fast!
